Rajesh Hamal is a Nepalese actor, environmental activists, producer, director, singer, and comedian. In a film career, Hamal has received numerous awards including more than 118 National Awards, D Cine Award, National Box Office Best Actor Award. Rajesh is well known for his famous dialogue ‘Shankher ho mero naam ,Shankher’.

Rajesh Hamal was born on 9th June 1964 in Tansen, situated in central Nepal. He did his schooling at Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School. Then after, he moved to Moscow, Russia for further studies. Afterward, Hamal completed his M.A in English literature from Delhi University.

Hamal made his acting debut with a lead role in the 1988 film “Yug Dekhi Yug Samma”, one of the super hit films of Nepali Cinema. It earned him his first National Film Award for ‘Best Actor Debut’ in 1989. In 1991, Rajesh Hamal did 3 movies: Bhauju, Deuki, and Deuta. And, they all were super hit. But, for movie Deuta, he received his first National Films Award for Best Actor Award in 1991.

In 1994, he starred in Director Amar Rasaili’s film “Aparadh” co-starring Kristi Mainali and Melina Manandhar. For which he received many awards including Best Actor from National Film Award and NAFTA Film Award. Furthermore, Hamal was most popular in action movies. Moreover, He has also given many successful movies like Simana, Bandhan, and Jun Tara. Again, in 1999, Hamal performed in 3 movies, Chor, Rana Bhoomi and Mr. Ram Krishne and his role of "Ram Krishne" put his name among the nominees for the Best Comedian Actor Award. Hamal worked in 3 different films in 2000, his first release film “Basanti” along with actress Karishma Manandhar. Hence, the film became one of the highest-grossing films at the box office. Later, he worked in several films.

In 2010, Rajesh performed in one movie ‘The Yug Dekhi Yug Samma’ and his performance in the film gave him a huge success and he received National Film Award Best Actor, D Cine Award Best Actor, Lux Kamana Award Best Actor and National Box Office Best Actor for the movie.

Childhood and Education
